Week 4 - Frustrating Writing

Writing is frustrating.

I knew this from the multiple novels I've written/tried to write and never published. Outlining is a pain in the butt. And none of it goes the way you want it to. So sometimes you have to kind of... wiggle it around.

So say you write out the outline linearly:

But then you hit a block, and don't know where to go from there:

One step you COULD take would be to jump to the end of the game, and outline from the end to where you left off. You would THINK that would be a decent way to figure it out. But NOOOOOOOOO...

That just leaves you feeling frustrated and confused because now you know where this is all going, but you have No Earthly Idea  how it all gets there. And you sit there staring at the outline for days. Wondering if maybe. Just Maybe. You should do somehting else. But no, every single documentation about game design says you have to have an outline before you start working, or you're gonna regret it.

So you sit. And stare at it.

And wonder what to do next.
